The fall season is one of the best times to visit Ashcombe, especially if you have children or grandchildren. I used to bring my children here for fall fun with the hayrides, enjoying the festively decorated play area, and then having lunch. So, today, my adult daughter and I came to have lunch and shop with my birthday rewards coupon. I like that when I have a question about tending to houseplants or mums/annuals, there is always a knowledgeable person to assist me.

Large Green Houses with tons of Plants, Annuals, Perennials, Bulbs, Potted Plants and many Bushes & Trees. They have tools and fertilizer and mulches and everything you need for your gardening pleasures. Staff are all very polite and know and willing to assist you. Today's trip was for planting some Vinca Annuals and they had exactly what I wanted!

If you are looking for a new plant, this is the place to go. They have so many diffirent variety and their plants looks healthy. It's always better to support local business than buying those dying plants in Home Depot or Lowes. Plus they have a free repotting service if you purchase plant and container together. They have many differnt containers to choose from, price range from $5 for plastic ones to $40+ for fancy ceramic ones. Their greenhouse also has cute cats wandering around so it's always a plus. Their market section is fine with lots of products and pastries.

Wide selection of food items available. Interesting home goods along with wide inventory of plants and flowers. The best and most diverse farm and garden store in the Harrisburg area.

If you know me, you know I'm a bit garden and plant obsessed, so I frequent many garden stores and greenhouses in the area. While it did take me a while to learn where to find everything (it's a big place!) I am SO pleased with Ashcombe's! First, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I've asked for help selecting houseplants and differences between perennial varieties and I've gotten thoughtful and very educational answers. Definitely FAR more information than is available on the tag that comes with the plants! Second, I am fully obsessed with native plants and planting in a way that is beneficial and attracts bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, etc. Ashcombe's has THE BEST selection of milkweed in the area. There are annual and perennial options as well as varieties I haven't seen elsewhere. Last time I was there they had multiple pinks, orange and white varieties. The third thing for me is they have fair prices. Anyone filling in a garden or flowerbed knows how quickly things can get expensive. Ashcombe's isn't cheap, but I don't feel like in getting ripped off when I go and purchase there. I'm happy to pay a little more for plants when I know I'm buying from knowledgeable folks who are passionate about them like me! Not even mentioned in this review is there really expansive collection of garden tools, houseplants, pots and essentially anything you can dream of that relates to gardening. They also have a store with fresh made treats, quick mixes and fresh produce. There are cute knock knacks and some clothing options as well. Seriously, check them out!

My quest to find a tree for front yard brought me to Ashcombe Farm & Greenhouses. I went to another local nursery before coming to Ashcombe and the experience could not have been more different. I believe the lady in the nursery who helped me was Liz(?). She was very helpful and patient. She's worked before in Hershey Gardens and now works here. By the time I reached Ashcombe, I had decided on which tree I was interested in. That tree comes in lots of varieties. They were not carrying my first choice. Liz asked me questions to understand what my requirements were and helped me pick another variety. At the checkout, she also suggested that I should consider taking the tree with me in my car, to save on the delivery fees. Ashcombe's delivery and planting fees are reasonable. Tree prices are in line with other nurseries in the area. They give 1 year warranty on all tree. I didn't have time to visit other areas of the farm. Something for next visit..

What a delightful morning we had at Ashcombe Farm! We came on a Saturday morning to visit during one of their fall harvest days with our toddler and were blown away by all of the activities and the beauty of the countryside. We paid to experience Hayworld and a hay ride, and it was surprisingly awesome. There was a corn maze, slides, little games like golf putting and ring toss, a snack shop, and my personal favorite - an old fashioned water pump game where you and a friend pump water to push a rubber ducky around a pipe race! The decorations were pretty cool, created from hay bails and wood cut outs (including a scene from the original Donkey Kong!) There were also animals that you could pet (baby cows, a pig, goats) and the coolest part of the hay ride was that it wasn't pulled by a tractor, but two real horses - we got to pet them too! They have a children's playground too with swings and slides. TONS of scenic locations for photos! The greenhouse and store had a nice selection of Americana decor and flowers (primarily mums when we were there, but a huge variety of colors). They had tons of produce as well if you're into locally grown fruits and veggies. We'll definitely be back! I'd encourage anyone with little people to stop out for a visit - they'll get a nice workout running around playing outside!
